Innovative Curriculum Tools

Since 1975, Training, Inc. has developed and used curriculum tools that are hands-on, interactive, and focused on helping participants build the technical and “soft” skills they need to succeed in the “culture of work”.

Training, Inc. National makes the majority of its curriculum tools available through training and technical assistance consulting provided to Training, Inc. affiliates and member sites.   Click here for more information about becoming a Training, Inc. affiliate.

Two curriculum products will soon be available for more general use by the workforce force development and education fields: 

Critical Choices is an online curriculum tool for career exploration that was developed jointly by Training, Inc. National Association, the YMCA Alliance in Chicago, and Northern Illinois University.   The product was the result of a grant awarded by the U. S. Department of Education's LAAP Program (Learning Anywhere, Anytime Partnership), to create a self-paced Web tool for career planning.   The product has now been beta-tested and we will soon be offering it to interested organizations.

JK Distributors is an online business simulation recently developed by YMCA Training, Inc. Boston with donated technical support from the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston.  It will soon be available for beta testing and feedback by other workforce development organizations. 

The Web-based simulation provides 55 hours of "work experience" activity as participants hold various positions -- including manager roles -- in a group of companies that provide supplies for residential institutions.  Participants increase their understanding of work flow and how to successfully operate a business, while strengthening their skills in teamwork, solving problems, and following procedures.
